Native gem mining means the sapphires you find originated from our property and haven't been imported. Our admissions are good for all the dirt you can dig till we close the digging area at 3 PM. There are no per bucket prices! Just remember to arrive no later than 2:30 PM for the native mining. It takes more time for the native. If you plan to do he native mining, give yourself several hours to increase your chances of success. This kind of mining takes luck, work (you need to move a lot of dirt), and some prospecting. Not everybody comes away with a stone to cut, large stones, or lots of stones. It's a lot like what the prospectors had to do.
Enriched Gem Buckets
We now offer enriched Rainbow Gem buckets! Enriched means that the stones are added to the dirt and come from various places in the world. Rainbow Gem Buckets are excellent for people who have only two hours to mine or less, get bored easily, or not prepared to do digging. They are priced by the bucket and are 25 dollars, 50 dollars, and 100 dollars. The 50 and 100 dollar buckets also have better quality material. We have to go bags for the same price. The enriched digging pile is now open! You will find the same stones as the pre-dug buckets. The price is $25 for 5 buckets and there is a minimum 5 bucket purchase.
Don't pass up an unique opportunity to do our black light mining tour. Refer to dates posted on Main page. Our sapphires glow a bright red under long wave uv light, because of their chromium content. There is no digging required! No groups of over 6 please and well behaved children 8 years old and above only. You WILL find sapphires! Tour is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour and starts one hour after sunset. If you want to use your own light on the property you still must pay. Please call the mine at 828-369-9742 to reserve you a spot.
